Montreal Culture

A venue for many summer festivals, and what some would call the cultural heart of classical art, the Place des Arts is a complex of different concert and theatre halls surrounding a large square in the downtown core of Montreal. Culture lovers would do well to look for apartments for rent in Montreal's prime Ville Marie borough. There are six concert and theater halls. Classical dances, operas, plays, and music performances from troops around the world and from Montreal's very own neighbourhoods are scheduled in these classy locales on a daily and nightly basis. The Musée d'art contemporain is located across the Esplanade from Place des Arts, and some of the most outstanding theater troupes and musical concert scenes may be found close by in what is now known as the Quartier des Spectacles.

Montreal also has an extensive network of museums, art galleries and exhibition centers. The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts has an impressive collection of European, Amerindian, Inuit, and Canadian art; including famous paintings from Montreal's own reputed artists. The Musée d'art contemporain has focused its collection primarily on emerging post-war Quebec artists, with arguably some of the best artistic works in Quebec.
